OK so prop-shaft mounts sorted, door lock mechanism changed, side light lenses replaced, spiggott (I put two g's and two t' just in case!) thingy in clutch greased - what next? Thanks once again at least I had somebody sensible to talk to this time (i.e. John the book-keepr). Really (really ) enjoyed the drive home the car feels smooth again. And, sorry Mark forgot to turn off at yours to collect me dump valve, what am I like

I needed a clutch so i rang the boys last week and they got the car in for monday 5th ( sorry to the people who where booked in ), so car goes in monday clutch, moonroof seal, squecking brakes. While the new clutch was being fitted they found the output shaft was knacked, new 25 spline shaft and coupler, new bearings in the transfer box, the clutch is so light now it feels like someone has taken the heavy duty springs of the pedal, and the best bit no squeeling brakes. so another thank you to you all great service as always.


(Im off to put in a claim to tesco for this fuel - as it caused my clutch to go)

As you know the car drives lovely now... and that exhaust tone is getting quite addictive.... It really warrants opening up the throttle when coming off roundabouts etc.... The car drove all the way up to Aberdeen nice and smooth using the cruise control and I'm estmating a fuel saving of 2mpg with the new exhaust (and that includes a few extra blasts). The car was averaging 25mpg on the way down using cruise control and 27mpg on the way home...

Thanks for reminding me about the toll bridge.... it's a shame you didn't tell me about the tunnel! I drove into the tunnel in the fast lane, only to discover cars coming towards me Quite scary, you almost got the car back for more repairs!

Apart from that it was lovely drive up the road, albeit un-eventful...

Thanks again for all the hard work and resourcing to get the parts my car needed...

Thanks for Saturday, great stuff.

I wasn't expecting it to feel so different though? Somehow it feels more solid at the back, not to mention the fully working rear stearing again, that feels nice! Car was nice and smooth, lovely job. Had a nice drive home.

I'll have a look at some exhausts, etc. and then we'll have a chat about getting that done?! And that handbrake (d'oh!).

I finally got around to re-sizing and uploading all my pics of last weeks adventure at Sumiyaka.

Nearly everything to do with suspension, steering and brakes was overhauled last week - and the car drives like a wet dream now. Steering is pin sharp and the new ECS struts with lowering springs all round has transformed the cars handling, it's extremely capable. 4 wheel laser alignment using what looks like the most advanced system available has set the car up perfectly - very point and shoot!

All new OEM brake lines were fitted (yes, I could have saved a fortune by using copper piping but I wanted them as original spec.) which took a lot of subframe removal but surprisingly came out and went back in without too much hassle.

Add to the list a nice purring cat-back exhaust, blanked off EGR and a new clutch and the car goes like a rocket, it really picks up in 3rd now instead of noise and not much go.

The lads were meticulous in their work and everything was done to my total satisfaction, in fact often I would have settled for less but as the saying goes 'a job worth doing...'

...even got a wash and chamois ready for the long trip home, which stayed clean and dry all the way home.

I spent 5 superb nights at the nearby London Inn and I couldn't ask for a more friendly place, the food and service was absolutely superb and waaaay beyond pub grub standard. Nothing like a good breakfast to start the day! Anyone needing an overnight stay whilst they visit Sumiyaka should consider staying at the London Inn at St Neots, just ask for Scotty.

Hi Guys

Just got in from a nice drive home from Cornwall where my car was enjoying the Sumiyaka treatment.

I took her down to the guys on Friday morning first thing, where they gave her a good looking at, and shared some of their really staggering knowledge of these cars.

So just to say thanks a lot Mark & Russ, or Russ & Mark Just the peace of mind of having someone like you two look at your car and cast their eye over it goes a long way.

It means a great deal knowing that you take so much pride and care in your work, and that you wouldn't let someone else drive away a car that you wouldn't drive away yourselves.

We found the complex in Plymouth by the way Mark, first time! We did head off the A38 a little early mind you only to rejoin it again, but.. that was just to take in some of the scenery you so amusingly told us about, of course

Will speak again in the very near future about that rear stearing, and the few other bits.

Many thanks again. If anyone is thinking of taking their car to these guys, do it - the service is second to none. I don't think I'd take mine anywhere else now.

Really good day. Thanks for staying late to get my car back on the road. 20:30 when they finished. commitment or what. .

They even sorted me out with a lovely B&B for the night as it was 4.5 hour journey back to Birmingham .

Great to see the guys in action and was well worth the trip down...what these guys don't know ain't worth knowing.

Mark has now added the 3000gt to his hated list due to a few stubborn problems that the GTO fails to have.

Even with all the phones calls and me interupting with stupid questions they did shed loads on the car in a day....

Hey folks,

I'm the new lucky owner of the car Sumiyaka had.

I went down all the way from sunny scotland to pick it up!

I have to say a huge thanks to everyone at Sumiyaka for everything they did for me over the weekend. Included, but not limited to :

- Nick for picking me up from newquay airport and running me down to the garage (cheers nick...I don't think being my personal taxi is in your job description - hope you've recovered from your mates stag do!)

- Staying open a bit later than usual to show me the car (just a teeny bit later than usual though..right? )

- Russ for taking the time to show me the ins and outs in the cockpit and under the hood for my first GTO purchase as well as being patient on my first drive of one as I stalled it and then proceeded to sunday drive it back to the garage

- Mark for making sure all the accessories were present and correct in the car (jack etc) and for giving me the tour of the cars in the garage ( I can't wait to see the after photos on the spyder) as well as popping the hood on his own gto for me to gawk at!

- Sorting out a b&b for me saturday night (after an insurance disaster meant I couldn't drive it away until sunday....damn 5pm saturday closing!) and then...surprise...driving me down to it! Will the list ever end?

Anyway they made the whole process effortless and went well out their way for me.

I have to apologise for being a bit of a space cadet at times..but it was all quite overwhelming..alot to take in! I'm sure anyone whose been down to the garage has felt like that at times..all those GTO's!

If you ever have any doubts on the knowledge and enthusiasm these guys have for their cars and GTO's in particular, get nick and russ in the pub for a quick pint - far too much knowhow!

Anyway the car made the 500 mile trip back without a hiccup and I have to say, the photos on the ad page don't do her justice. Especially after the Sumiyaka cleaning job on her..if I hadn't known better I would have said she was fresh off the assembly line!

I'm off to sort out some GTO UK membership, I've already saved many more times the membership fee on knowledge and info gleaned (not to mention it was here I was pointed to the car!) and I can only hope one day to repay the favour!

So..thanks again guys and if you ever randomly sell a car again feel free to point any prospective buyers my way for peace of mind.

One day you'll bow to pressure and open up slightly further north

Just a quick note to say thanks for the excellent work done on my car. Having seen the mess left behind after my little gearbox failure - great photos by the way Mark! - I think we were pretty lucky not to have had a major incident at speed.

The transmission is bedding in nicely - no funny noises, vibrations or leaks.

It was great to see you guys in action - best of luck with your expansion plans.

Thanks for the hints and tips on sites of local interest - we never made it to the Eden Project, to be honest the train journey down was more tiring that driving all the way back!

Nice to meet you guys - keep up the good work!

Well, as some of you will know, either from my posts on GTO UK over the last few months or from actually being at Sumiyaka, I've had my car in there for a little bit of work.

Initially it was to fix a broken valve, then it was to fit some other parts too, then I threw caution to the wind and Mark and Russ began doing some work, Sumiyaka style.

Am sure there's a load I've missed, like water pump, oil pump etc etc but you get the idea

From start to finish Mark and Russ have been great. My car went to Sumiyaka initially to get the headwork done, but it needed significantly more than that.
The car has spent 8 months there, during which time they've answered any questions I might have and stored it in their workshop, waiting for me to get the financial side sorted. I didn't have the money 8 months ago, so this was taken on as a very long term project. Looking at how crowded their workshop is I don't expect them to want another long termer in a hurry

Tuesday I picked her up, and I have to say the difference is amazing. The car looks absolutely stunning. The quality of work is as good as it can get. The welding on the pipework is excellent, everything under the bonnet looks perfect, and I couldn't be happier with the work.

The IC piping is fully custom - all new from turbo right through to plenum. The FMIC is huge (ebay job, bought before asking for advice) but the guys have not only not altered the bumper, they also haven't altered the crash bar, so the fitted item is stealthy and almost factory looking, only much better

The suspension was supplied by me and was bought from James at Amber for a great price, as were a number of other parts like pistons, brakes etc.

The ride is now exactly the way I like it. There is no roll, and the car rides cleanly on most roads, giving a very firm but not uncomfortable ride, and brilliant road holding and cornering. It really does handle the way a proper performance car should handle, installing confidence and predictability when driving. Overly crappy pot hole'd roads are a bit of a nightmare, but I was expecting that - I specifically asked for a really hard ride.

The clutch is also an item supplied by James. It's rated I think to 680ft lbs and should be able to support my future plans That said it's no problem for use in traffic, I have no problem at all pulling away, and after initially stalling it after Russ picked me up from the station, I can now drive it like any other car.

A number of other parts have come from Rob at the Evil Empire. He's someone who I will definitely be using for parts again too. He's very prompt with delivery, and has helped with a number of different items over the last few months.

The turbos... Ahhh the best bit They're somewhat custom, fully rebuilt and upgraded by Sumiyaka and feel really strong. I've not been able to rev past 3500 yet, but they come on boost boost pretty much as well as a set of 9b's do, but feel like they're just waiting to serve up some real power. I'll soon have run the engine in, and will be able to comment on how well they hold boost, but I've been in Russ's car with a similar set (apparently mine are actually slightly better) and his pulls like a rocket on steroids.

Once I've got some more cash saved up I'll be going back down there to get a MAP ECU, larger injectors and so on. Suffice to say I'm not happy staying this side of 500bhp if I can help it.

This is one of Sumiyaka's babies now, and so any work that gets done simply has to get done by the pros. I'd highly recommend them to anyone, and will be telling anyone who asks who's responsible for the masterpiece under my bonnet.

Having had both servicing and tuning work carried out by the team I cannot recommend you guys enough. Extremely professional, helpful and conscientious, you have improved the general running and performance of my car ten fold - a team you can totally put your trust in with your pride and joy!

When I purchased my GTO, like many other owners of these fine cars it was imported from japan, immaculate condition from the outside, engine sounded sweet until one day it decided to give up on me I paid a visit to my local Mitsubishi garage where they said my engine needed a complete overhaul,which could cost anything up to £5k+ well my heart nearly give up at that figure.

I went to see Russ and Mark at SUMIYAKA on thursday, nothing wrong with my mk1 tt, just wanting to keep it that way! or so I thought.

Drove the car back yesterday from your place to Banbury 250 miles and all the way I kept thinking is this the same car I took down there, she sounds so much healthier the custom exhaust is marvellous, not to over stated but enough so you know the car has purpose, I love the noise it makes when you power up from a junction, just what I wanted , all the other work is excellent and I am especially thankful that you could fit the body work repair in while we where at it, it makes such a difference to talk with people who really understand these cars and every detail of them, I learnt some interesting facts about the rear steering system and what it is doing amongst other things. With all the things done to the car driving it is a real pleasure now, let’s put it this way I arrived a t work an hour early because I could not wait to drive it again this morning.

Any way brilliant work you guys; you all really deserve the excellent reputation you have,

I had the best 370 mile drive home today that I have ever had in a car! Thanks guys for making the Phoenix rise from the ashes. She is f***ing AWSOME!
How you have managed to make it go so well is beyond me.
I can't wait for the next stage of improvements we have planned - a proper, real engine NOT built by "you know who".
The little race with the Audi TT I had on the M5 (he lost, obviously) put such a big grin on my face...
Just taken Martyn (the petrol head, ex-rally driver friend, biker, fast car owner of mine you met at the NEC) out in it for a spin around the back lanes of Norfolk and his first response as I hit the loud pedal was "Oh sssshhheeeetttt!!!!", and he held onto his seat with both hands.
If this is a taste of things to come, then I want it NOW!

Oh, and the exhaust... oh, the exhaust! It is just phenomenal! Sounds like deep throuted Hell after 3500rpm, with a beautiful deep gurgle at tick over and low revs.

Went for a Sumiyaka stainless steel dual exhaust. Two boxes on each exhaust and quad exits to make it look almost standard. BUT - it sounds fantastic! Low roar rising to deep throated howl when I give it some welly. You'll find pix of it here.. mines the red one...
This, coupled with the high pitched whistle of the twin stainless steel air filters make for a beast that you know is coming at you...
I'm one happy puppy.
Can't wait now for the new short engine to be fitted to get the full potential out of a tuning package that Mark and Russ tailored for my wishes/needs/whims.
I'm looking at a "turned down" 450 bhp when it's all done. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Took my 94TT to the guys yesterday for a couple of repairs and cause I wanted an expert opinion on what else may need attention. I normally just take it to a local Jap car specialist and they always seemed OK.

The lads at Sumiyaka gave me a list of 6 items that need doing, some of which should have been picked up at my last MOT in February and some that should have been spotted by my local guy.

The moral of the tale is - If you'r not an expert with these motors, take it to these guys, don't take any risks, particulary if you've recently aquired the car, you only need to go once a year and the trip (in my case around 500 miles in total) is worth the effort.

They are also nice honest guys.
